Frequently asked questions

Which formats are supported?
  • Video output: MP4, MOV, M4V and 3GP, with H.264 or HEVC (H.265). Animated GIF is also available.
  • Audio output: M4A (AAC), WAV, FLAC, Apple Lossless (ALAC), AIFF and CAF.
  • Input: any video or audio file your iPhone can play, from Photos or the Files app.
What's included for free, and what does Premium add?

Every tool is free to use, and you can export 3 videos of any length. After that, Premium is needed to keep exporting. Premium (Weekly $3.99 or Yearly $19.99 with a 3-day free trial, US prices) unlocks unlimited exports of any length.

How do I cancel my free trial or subscription?

Go to Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Video Converter › Cancel Subscription. To avoid being charged, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or current period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

I paid but Premium isn't active.

Open the app's Settings and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in to the App Store with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe. If it still doesn't work, email us with the date of purchase (we never need your password or card details).

Where are my converted files?

In the app's Library tab, and in the Files app under On My iPhone › Video Converter › Exports. You can also save them to Photos or share them from the result screen. Turn on Save to Photos automatically in Settings to add them to Photos every time.

Why is my compressed file larger than expected?

Some videos are already highly compressed, and very short or very long videos at a fixed size limit can behave differently. Try a lower resolution or “Lower” quality in Advanced mode, switch the codec to HEVC, or use Custom File Size to choose an exact target.

A video from iCloud won't open.

If “Optimize iPhone Storage” is on, the full video may need to download from iCloud first. Make sure you're connected to the internet, open the video in Photos once to download it, then try again.

Can I keep using my phone while a video converts?

Please keep the app open until it finishes — iOS may pause the work if you switch apps. Long or 4K videos take longer; the progress screen shows the estimated time left.

How does “Replace Original in Photos” work?

After compressing a video picked from Photos, this saves the smaller copy (keeping the original date, location and favorite) and asks iOS to delete the original. iOS always asks you to confirm, and deleted items stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days.

Why can't I separate vocals from my recording?

Split Vocal / Music works best on stereo songs where the voice is mixed in the centre. Mono recordings (such as most phone voice memos) can't be separated this way — the app will let you know when that's the case.

Can I convert movies I bought from the iTunes Store?

No. Purchased and rented movies are protected by DRM and can't be processed by any converter app.
